IN MEMORY

Fairlea Sheehy

Fairlea Sheehy

From the Wellesley Magazine:

Fairlea Sheehy ’72 died on Sept. 18, 2014, of multiple sclerosis.

Remembering Fairlea Sheehy:

The laugh, the astute mind, the never-ending curiosity.

Who gives up law practice to cook in a DC Tex-Mex restaurant? Ms. Fairlea.

Who takes up Greek to read the Odyssey in the original? Ms. Fairlea.

Who buys a monster house in the District and then, through some degrees of separation, rents to a young friend of a friend (and they become lifelong friends)? Ms. Fairlea.

Certainly stardust now, absolutely debating with the sages of the ages.

Lift your glass to joy and a life fully lived

I thought she had an unusual and funny sense of humor.   Does anyone know when she died?

She apparently died of MS.  I remember her as "wicked smart"!

Fairlea sat behind me in Geometry.  Very smart girl.  She made Mr. Fisher's class tolerable.  She broke her leg once and got her pencil stuck down her cast and we spent most of the period quietly trying to get it out.

I also remember how smart Fairlea was, and I thought she had model good looks. She and her parents were very kind to me, including me in weekend trips to Lake Quivera where they had a cabin.
