Kansas City Star, The (MO) - May 30, 2010

1949 - 2010

Emile "Dutch" Guignon passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 26, 2010, after a courageous, near lifelong battle with polio. Dutch was the eldest son of Emile and Gloria Guignon and a lifelong resident of Kansas City. Dutch was a true joy to his extended family and friends. From his early years he enjoyed many hobbies, especially fishing. He was always ready with an interesting fact or story to light up a conversation.

Although he was stricken with polio as a small child, he courageously
"moved on" with his life and served as an inspiration to the many
people he met. He will always be remembered lovingly by his family as a smiling and gentle human being. Dutch had an inner strength that was stronger than the disease and a peace that only comes to those who have overcome a powerful foe. He was preceded in death by his father, Emile S. Guignon, III. He is survived by his mother, Gloria Guignon Owens and stepfather Hugh; sister Jacqueline Guignon Cunningham, her husband Tom nd their daughter, Marley Cunningham and her children Reece and Khloe; brother Charles Guignon and his family, Terri and their two children Carley and Shane; uncle Pierre "Pete" Guignon and wife Peggy Guignon, and the many loving cousins in Kansas City and California.

Dutch's family would like to thank Grace Hospice for their loving care.
A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Muehlebach Funeral Home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery.
